This Week’s Event Recap: Butterflies & Buffalo VIP Installation + KitchenSurfing’s Chef Preview

GlitzPR on the Move {Week of Sept 21-27}

With social media week in full swing this past week in Chicago, I of course had a busy week making my rounds to various events around the City.  Two events that I attended stood out for me.  That was the VIP Installation Showcase of Butterflies & Buffalo – Tales of American Culture hosted by Venue Logic, LLC and Kitchensurfing’s Chef preview held at City Winery Chicago.

This wonderful event was held on the Plaza at Two North Riverside Plaza in the Chicago Loop. This exciting outdoor installation, made possible with funding by Venue Logic, featured the LARGEST FILM CAMERA IN THE WORLD designed and built by renowned Chicago photographer, Dennis Manarchy.

The camera produces 6-foot film negatives with resolution of over 1,000x greater than today’s digital technology. A series of ultra-large-format portrait photographs representing cultures from across the United States will accompany the monumental centerpiece from September 18th to October 31st. This amazing Chicago-born mission celebrates the 200th anniversary of photography, but more importantly, it will provide an indelible glimpse into the history, achievements, folklore and heritage of our incredible cultures. The journey is just beginning…

Guests were treated with delicious food and cocktails provided by three fabulous Chicago caterers. We sipped on champagne by Catered by Design, indulged in spicy margaritas by D’Absolute Events & Catering and treated with short rib of beef and mashed potatoes by Jewell Events Catering.  Of course, a meal would not be complete without dessert which was provided by TipsyCake who also delighted the crowd with a cake that was made identical to the camera made by Dennis Manarchy.

On Friday, I had the pleasure of attending a delicious event sponsored and hosted by Kitchensurfing at City Winery Chicago for a Chef Preview. Guests sampled the tasty selections from FIVE local chefs while sipping red and white wine on tap produced locally at the City Winery urban winery.

Kitchensurfing and City Winery highlighted some of their favorite chef and wine pairings.  It was a pleasure meeting the star chefs of Kitchensurfing Chicago (who are personal chefs for events), and tasting some of their favorite dishes which were paired with special City Winery wines.

Kitchensurfing is a marketplace connecting chefs of all kinds with people who love to eat, I say not only eat but a place to network as well… #NETWORKtoSuccess.  Until next time

Salud!
