Capturing the Moment

I receive many invites to events via Facebook and/or email and I know with my hectic schedule I can’t make all of them.  I look forward to seeing the professional pictures from the events I’ve attended or have not attended whether it be a bridal show, fashion show or open house because not all events will be mentioned in the blogs, magazines or newspapers.  Unfortunately, this is not happening and with Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram so HOT right now, there is absolutely no excuse why professional pictures should not be posted of your event on these various social media sites.

There are many professional photographers throughout the world and I know some of them would seize the opportunity to capture the moment from events because this is a great way to get their work noticed , especially a new photographer. So why in 2012 am I still seeing so many pictures taken from cell phones on Facebook or Twitter, or professional photographers snapping pictures at events but no pictures posted and finally no pictures at all from all these hyped up events mentioned via social media?

It really makes no sense to me which is why I wanted to point out 4 reasons why it’s important to have a professional photographer at your event(s).

  1. Experience.  You want to have the best images for your event to showcase your work and a professional photographer knows how to capture those specific moments and details. The photographer can also assist in posing and coaching and knows how to create the best images because of their lighting skills.
  2. Creative Vision. Photography is an art.  A professional photographer knows how to capture the moment at the right time to capture the moment you desire for your business and your brand.
  3. High Quality Prints.  A professional photographer has access to equipment that the regular photographer doesn’t know anything about.  They also know how to retouch the photos by adding the right amount of color pop, contrast, the ideal dose of brightness/darkness here and there, or a perfect black and white conversion to make an unforgettable work of art.
  4. Blog/Magazine Print.  Some photographers also have access to or knowledge of who to submit the photos to at magazines, blogs, and newspapers for publication of your event.  Inside Tip:  The magazines and blogs normally publish photos from the same photographers, that may be the one you want to hire for your next event.

There are many reasons why you should hire a professional photographer but I just wanted wanted to point out the ones that I find most important in capturing the moment.  For those still in the Twilight Zone, it’s time to get with the program. Here’s another TIP from ME to YOU:  Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram are all ways to get your work and your brand noticed, utilize them often.  Until then…

Salud!
